About Jake
Jake Voelcker FdA MNCPS (Acc.)
I am a qualified counsellor based at the Whiteladies Therapy Rooms in Clifton/Redland. Clients describe me as calm, caring, supportive and understanding.
My journey into counselling started as a client over 10 years ago, and I found therapy so helpful and life-changing that I decided to re-train as a counsellor.
I mainly specialise in helping with anxiety, and as a past sufferer myself I truly understand how crushing, terrifying and debilitating anxiety can be. I can help with various kinds of anxiety including generalised anxiety disorder, social anxiety, panic/anxiety attacks and separation anxiety. Other issues sometimes accompany anxiety, including depression, low self-esteem, relationship problems, and physical symptoms – we can explore these as well. I’m trained in multiple ways of working, and together we can find the style which suits you best.
You may want help with a specific issue in your life. Or our work might be to gain insight into past experiences, and bring patterns of thought and behaviour to light. Or perhaps you feel you are already aware of the issues, but still cannot move beyond them? In this case we can take an experiential approach, using various techniques to gently process the emotions and feelings together in our sessions.
Above all I always work relationally, doing my utmost to put you at ease and make it natural, safe and comfortable to talk.
My pronouns are he/him.
